To strengthen the capabilities of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) assisted micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), DOST Regional Office 02 held a one-day seminar on Corporate Branding at Hotel Carmelita, Tuguegarao City, December 19.

More than 60 participants from different provinces of Region 02 including Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Quirino and Cagayan attended the said activity.

The activity aimed to reinforce the competence of MSMEs as the prime movers of innovation poverty reduction, employment generation, and social integration.

DOST helped various MSMEs in the country through its flagship program dubbed as Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) that encourages entrepreneurs to adopt technological innovations to improve their operations to boost their productivity and competitiveness.

In his opening remarks, Regional Director Sancho A. Mabborang emphasized on the importance of branding. He said, “We are hopeful that you can equip yourself with knowledge in creating your own brand and identity in business to become a globally competitive one.”

Coach Randy Esguerra, life coach of Success Coach Personal and Business Development, discussed the topic on corporate branding specifically on the power of branding, positioning of branding and attracting more customers.

Some staff of the regional office including Engr. Jonathan Nuestro, Ms. Virginia G. Bilgera, Ms. Nora T. Garcia, Engr. Sylvia T. Lacambra, Engr.  Rogelio J. Bulusan, and Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog served as the resource speakers with topics on climate change adaptation strategies, food safety, supply chain analysis and gender and development.

Also, a personal branding for the staff of DOST Region 02 took place to further improve their individual contribution for the years to come and analyze what had happened this year in their department. (KC D. Sucuano/DOST R02)
