November 24, 2021 – “I have seen the progress of the R&D Community all throughout the years. Let us work hand in hand to make future generations proud.” Ms. Mary Ann P. Maglasin, Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Regional Director in the Department of Science and Technology Region 02 (DOST R021), said.

DOST R02 held a virtual commemoration ceremony for the different State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the region. This is done as part of the 2021 Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW).
DOST R02 highlighted the different Research and Development (R&D) accomplishments of each SUC in the region, namely the Batanes State College (BSC), Cagayan State University (CSU), Isabela State University (ISU), Quirino State University (QSU), and Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU).
Each of them highlighted the DOST-funded R&D centers housed in their campuses through audio-visual presentations. Aside from that, they also highlighted their developed products and technologies through the R&D centers.
Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations, emphasized the importance of collaboration between DOST and the SUCs. He stated that researchers from the academe serve as a huge factor in forwarding R&D in the community.
Also present in the event were the presidents of each SUC, namely Engr. Alfonso R. Simon for BSC, Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado of CSU, Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino of ISU, Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr. for QSU, and Hon. Ruth Raña-Padilla for NVSU.
Participants were given a chance to ask questions about the R&D Centers and S&T innovations through an open forum with the presidents.
More than 200 participants were present in Zoom and more than 400 streamed the event through Facebook Live. (S&T Pen 02-Hanz Mallillin)
