December 01, 2021 – The Department of Science and Technology Region 02 (DOST R02) officially launched its 2021 Regional Science and Technology Week Celebration (2021 RSTW).
DOST R02 honored their Science and Technology (S&T) ambassadors, Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) partners, and MSMEs across the region, through an awarding ceremony. The results for the winners were based on different criteria set by the department.
DOST R02’s RSTW Celebration is part of the DOST-wide National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) that ran through the months of October to December. Its goal is to promote S&T webinars on robotics, mathematics, S&T, and other related topics.
Key officials of the department were present in the event to give their congratulations to the winners.
“Today’s event marks a new beginning for the culture of excellence that you have cultivated in your region. For at the end of the day, you are not here in DOST to benefit high officials; you are here to benefit the Filipino people, making sure that no one is left behind.” DOST Secretary, Prof. Fortunato T. de la Peña said in his speech.
Furthermore, DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations and DOST R02’s former regional director, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, commended the department for their hard work. “Today, I am speaking in front of you as the undersecretary for regional operations. I would like to see region 02 as one of the frontrunners in advancing S&T in the nation”, he said.
The awardees were also given an opportunity to express their thanks to the department.
“I hope to see the Philippines become a front runner in development in the ASEAN region, through the help of DOST.” Mr. Kok Chin “KC” Tay, one of the receivers of the Best STI Ambassador awards, stated.
The department has prepared webinars and hybrid events until December 16 to continue its RSTW Celebration. (S&T Pen 02 – Hanz Mallillin)
