In the recent Stakeholders’ Forum of Quirino State University, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) though the Provincial Science and Technology Center of Quirino led by Engr. Rocela Angelica B. Gorospe, encouraged Quirino State University to venture into Coffee Research and Development (R&D) that will benefit the province and the region.

“QSU has a big role in conducting research on quality coffee production especially on processing it into specialty coffee which is emerging nowadays,” she said.

“It is also high time for our researchers to commercialize their technologies and develop products but before commercializing, they should pass certain standards so that it will be at par with the global demand,” she added.

PSTC Quirino team also encouraged the university to maximize the different opportunities from DOST including the DOST-Academe Technology-Based Enterprise Development (DATBED), the Collaborative Research and Development to Leverage Philippine Economy (CRADLE) program and Technology Business Incubation (TBI).


DOST seats as a member of Board of Regents and steers universities in their R&D focus and activities aligned with the local and national R&D Agenda and government thrusts.


The Stakeholders’ Forum aimed to gather inputs from the industry, academe, public and private partners on the different focus plans of the university for prioritization for FY 2023 budget. The Stakeholders’ Forum was held February 11, 2022 via Zoom.
