DOST,DTI - SSF Project- Batanes

Basco, Batanes – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 02 thru the Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) Batanes extended its technical assistance to the Department of Trade and Industry Region 02, March 02, 2022.

 PSTC Batanes visited and assessed their proposed Shared Service Facility (SFF) for Ivatan Artisan Center to intensify the creative arts in the province as a support to the tourism industry. The said SSF project shall be operated by the talented artists of the Batanes Indigenous Artists Association (BIAA) and shall be supervised by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Basco.

The BIAA, whose most members are from the well-known “Yaru nu Artes Ivatan”, is one of the several groups composed by multiple talented artists in the province. Registered under the Department of Labor and Employment, the association focuses on supporting the Ivatan’s creativity, indigenous culture, sustainable livelihood, and promoting various forms of art in Batanes.

The on-site visit was conducted together with the DTI- Provincial Office headed by Provincial Director Ellerie Mila Ramel and the Municipal Planning and Development Officer of LGU – Basco, Engr. Romeo Beltran Jr. and Ms. Joy Horlina of PSTC Batanes.
