DOST R02 welcomes 57 new JLSS qualifiers

Tuguegarao City - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 02 through the Science and Technology (S&T) Scholarship section welcomed 57 new Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) qualifiers during the Orientation and Scholarship Agreement signing on March 04, 2022 of via zoom.

JLSS is a program for incoming regular third year college students who are enrolled in priority science and technology courses.

The scholarship selection process was based on the students' academic grades from their first to second year of college. As a result, 57 students in the region are qualified as DOST scholars under RA 10612, RA 7687 & Merit.

“This is the first step in your journey,” DOST R02 OIC- Regional Director Virginia G. Bilgera said during her opening message.

She expressed her warmest congratulations to the qualifiers and commend them for their dedication to finish their studies.

Dr. Liberato T. Umangay Jr, education program supervisor of Human Resource Development Division of DepEd Region 02, also discussed the process of the Return of Service and DepEd Hiring for the DOST Scholars.

This year’s orientation featured discussions on the provisions of the Scholarship Agreement, access to the Scholar’s Portal, and an open forum. Despite the pandemic, DOST SEI is actively involved in providing scholarship grants to various students across the country.

 

Present in the said activity were DOST Assistant Regional Director for Finance Administrative Support Services, Ms. Mary Ann P. Maglasin, who encouraged all the participants to avail and to maximize the scholarship program. 

Meanwhile, Science Research Specialist II and Center Manager of Scholarship, Ms. Cecile S. Calagui, discussed the Scholarship Policies and Agreement.
